Estudiosos acreditam que Moray
foi construído pelos Incas com a função de ser um centro de experimentos agrícola.
Os terraços chegam a ter 30 metros de profundidade e as diferenças climáticas entre
o primeiro e o último círculo é de 15C. Provavelmente os Incas usavam estas diferenças
de temperaturas para testar a produtividade das suas plantações. It is believed that Moray was built by the Incas in order
to be a center of agricultural experiments. The terraces have up to 30 meters deep
and the clime differences between the first and last circle reaches 15C. Probably
the Incas used the different temperatures to test the productivity of their
crops.
Moray está localizado há cerca de
50km de Cusco e para visitar este sítio arqueológico e Maras que fica próximo,
contratei a Milania, uma guia que conheci no Museu Inca e o amigo dela Freddy
que é taxista. Moray is located about 50km from
Cusco. I visited it and Maras, the nearby archaeological site guided by Milania
who I met at Inca Museum and her friend Freddy that is a taxi driver. I hired
their services for the day.
No local não há nenhuma
lanchonete, apenas um pequeno comércio de artesanato. There is not a
cafeteria around in the area, just a lady selling handcraft.
A paisagem de Cusco até Moray
é cinematográfica. The landscaping from Cusco to Moray is extremely
beautiful.
Às vezes parávamos para que as
ovelhas e vacas seguissem viagem. Os animais eram sempre conduzidos por crianças
que pareciam estar brincando e se divertindo com a tarefa. Era domingo, 8 de
abril de 2012 e, segundo a minha guia, é comum na região as crianças cuidarem
dos animais nos fins de semana. Now and then we had to stop on the road so
that sheep and cows could carry on their journey. The animals were always guided
by children who seemed enjoying and having fun with their task. It was Sunday, 8th
April 2012, and according to my guide, it is common in the region the kids take
care of the animals over the weekends.
No caminho também encontramos
agricultores trabalhando. On the way we also met people working
the farms.
