A fonte de Tambomachay

 

No alto de uma montanha, próximo a Cusco, um dos melhores exemplos do enorme conhecimento hidráulico dos Incas. Um sistema de canais que traz a água através dos terraços até uma fonte que se bifurca e deixa a água deslizar suavemente. On top of a mountain, near Cusco, one of the best examples of the great knowledge of hydraulic by the Incas. The system has channels in which the water goes through the terraces up to a fountain that bifurcates and let the water run smoothly.

A quantidade de água na fonte é a mesma durante o ano inteiro e até hoje ainda não foi descoberto a sua origem. As pedras irregulares se ajustam perfeitamente formando os muros e por serem lapidadas lembram a construção de um palácio. The amount of water at the fountain is the same throughout the year and nobody knows yet from where it comes. The wall is formed by irregular stones that fit together perfectly. As they are polished stones it reminds the construction of a palace.

Alguns pesquisadores acreditam que Tambomachay era um lugar de descanso enquanto que outros estudiosos acham que o local era um templo usado para cerimônias de culto a água. Some researchers believe that Tambomachay was a resting place while other scholars believe that the site was a temple used for ceremonies of water worship.
