I can say that  all documentaries I've seen so far  are striking and extremely interesting. However, I confess I did fall in love with the movie The Broken Moon by Brazilians Marcos Negrão and André Rangel.

The film has already received 25 international awards and was exhibited in several countries. I had the opportunity to talk to Marcos Negrão, the filmmaker, director and writer of The Broken Moon and he told me a little bit about the film's production. Marcos traveled to India to shoot a movie in Kashmir, but due to internal conflicts in the region the project was postponed. In the city of Ladakh, Mark noticed on the streets people from nomad tribes of the Himalayas who survive by selling their handicrafts. It gave him an idea to make a movie about a nomad family in the Himalayas and the effects of climate changes in their lives. Marcos could only rely on a translator guide to travel to the heart of the Indian Himalayas and follow the daily life of the old man Sonam and his tribe.

A movie with an incredible beautiful photography and a history of faith in one of the most inhospitable regions of the world, which is told in a such kind way that makes us not only think deeply about the consequences of climate changes for the nomad tribes of the Himalayas, but also forces us to look into ourselves and question the way we live in a modern society. You should not miss The Broken Moon that will be shown again on Thursday 22nd March at 8.00 pm at Cine Sabesp. I will be there to see the movie again for sure.
